The National Department Of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is granting to 750 foreign students to obtain a scholarship to study in Indonesia. The Darmasiswa RI program is a scholarship program funded by the government of Indonesia and open to all foreign students from countries with which Indonesia has friendly relations, to study Indonesian languages, arts, music and crafts. The Darmasiswa RI program consist in 2 (two) scholarship schemes, namely:
1. Free of tuition fee B. Schedule 1. Bundle of candidate's application shall be submitted before the end of February 2010. VISA ARRANGEMENT To study in Indonesia, the Darmasiswa participant is required to have a social visit visa issued by the Indonesian Embassy in the participant's country of residence. Upon arrival in Indonesia, the Darmasiswa participant's passport has to be submitted to the Bureau of Planning and International Cooperation, Ministry of National Education, for necessary arrangements in obtaining recommendations of the State Secretariat and the Directorate General of Immigration, Departement of Law and Human Rights. The participants are prohibited to apply for tourist visa for study purpose. ACCOMODATION

A. GOAL The Tenth Conference of Heads of States of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) countries held on 1-6 September 1992 concluded among others the idea of providing scholarships by the Ministry of Education and Culture, which is now the Ministry of National Education (MONE). The scholarship is aimed to strengthen the relationship and mutual cooperation among the members of NAM countries, to reciprocate scholarship programs provided by other countries. for Indonesian citizens, and to provide stronger cultural links between these nations. B. STUDY PROGRAMS The scholarship is offered to postgraduate students (Master Degree) to study at one of the universities in Indonesia for 3 years, consisting of one year of the Indonesian Language and Preparatory Programs and 2 years of Master Program with the arrangement below. 1. Fields of study (be advised that not every university offers the following fields of study)
a. Humanities (1) Literary studies b. Science (1) Biology c. Agricultural Sciences (1) Agricultural Economics d. Social Science (1) Public Administration e. Engineering (1) Chemical Engineering f. Education (1) Education Management g. Multi-disciplinary Studies (1) Performing Arts and Arts Studies 2. Study Sessions a. Indonesia Language : 8 Months 3. Research a. Research in the framework of the graduate program should be carried out in Indonesia. 4. Language All lectures and thesis writing will be in the Indonesian language. C. SCHOLARSHIP I. Scholarship coverage

Health Insurance (i) The students are eligible to check up their health condition at a public health center referred by the host university (ii) Health insurance given to the students is based on the recommended doctor’s statement In case students should see specialists including dentists, eye specialists and maternity specialists, they should bear all the cost. 2. through the Indonesian Embassy/Consulate in the respective countries. The candidates can also apply on-line through the website: www.knb.diknas.go.id and 3. All documents must be received by the Bureau for Planning and International Cooperation, Ministry of National Education not later than mid May, 2010 5. The selection result will be announced by the end of May 2010 6. The students should arrive in Jakarta by mid September 2010 7. Orientation will be organized in September 2010 8. The Indonesian language course will start in mid September 2010 F. ARRIVAL IN INDONESIA 1. International Airfare The Indonesian Government provides a round-trip international airfare (economic class) from the international airport of the students’ home countries to Jakarta. 2. Visa a. The students are expected to have a valid passport minimum for 2 years. b. The students should obtain a VISA from the Indonesian Embassy/Consulate in the home country. It must be at least a social/culture visa. All students are not allowed to use a tourist visa to study in Indonesia because it will raise problems in obtaining permissions to stay in Indonesia. c. The Indonesian Government (c.q. Ministry of Foreign Affairs) will issue a stay permit to stay for one year and possibly to be extended for the following year until the study is completed. 3. On arrival a. After obtaining the social/culture visa from the Indonesian Embassy/Consulate in the student’s country of residence, the students are urged to depart for Indonesian as soon as possible b. Students are required to inform the Bureau for Planning and International Cooperation, Ministry of National Education. Jakarta regarding their schedule of arrival in Indonesia. This is to enable this Bureau to make all necessary arrangements in meeting all students at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. c. Students are strongly advised not to be accompanied by any family member. The monthly stipend provided is only appropriate for one person. G. RETURN HOME 1. Return home after finishing study 3. Temporary return a. to have a recommendation from the head of study program at the university where they belong 4. Study drop-out a. Students should inform the Director of Graduated Program at the University where they belong. H. OTHERS MATTERS 1. Prohibition of working or joining political activities 2. Accomodation a. The Bureau for Planning and International Cooperation and the University/College will not provide any lodging or board to students. They have to look for their board and lodging themselves. 3.
